Ghostwriting

Our Process

Consultation and Interview

Choosing a ghostwriter isn’t easy. At Paige Consulting, we uniquely understand the difficulties of opening up and trusting someone with your ghostwriting project.

During your consultation, you can expect to be asked about the following

  • The project’s goal

  • Your expertise (Why are you the person to tell this story?)

  • Your interests

  • Manuscript details (length, outline, page count, graphics, etc.)

  • Where do you see your book sitting?

  • What level of communication or collaboration are you comfortable with?

  • Legal considerations: NDA, contract, obligations, etc.

  • You can expect to spend between 45 minutes to an hour in a consultation or interview with Kate.

  • All of our consultations and interviews are completely free, releasing you from any liability or obligation.

Drafting

Drafting is the most important part of the ghostwriting process. Throughout the manuscript’s drafting stages, you can expect to hear from us weekly—if not daily—with updates on your manuscript draft.

At Paige, we value client collaboration above all else: We create all of our manuscripts using Google Documents for maximum transparency. That way, you can see what we’re doing, when, and why. It’s your project, and we want you to love it.

We meet with you regularly (in a schedule of your choosing) to discuss manuscript specifics, edits, and structural changes you’d like made.

  • Duration varies based on client schedule, project scope, and timeline. You can expect approximately one month per 10,000 words.

  • Prices begin at $50/hour, and go from there. During the consultation, Kate will discuss with you pricing options, including milestone-based pricing, or an hourly model.

Keep in mind that our manuscript prices relieve us from any royalties made on the book. So—you stop paying when we stop writing!

Editing

Editing is key to creating a polished, publishable manuscript that sells! At Paige, we conduct regular developmental and structural edits at the beginning of a project to ensure it’s on the right track.

After the manuscript is completed, we offer comprehensive line edits, copy edits, etc., to ensure you’re pleased with what your book has goin’ on! These edits vary in scope, but, as always, we heavily factor and rely on a client’s vision during this process.

  • Editing time varies on your schedule, and on the scope of the edits necessary. Largely, you can expect 10,000 words to take approximately 1 week.

  • Our editing services cost $50/hour.
